My first poly gel kit. I'm in love with how this works.

This was my first time trying poly gel, and I am absolutely in love with it! This stuff is so easy to use, and with the help of some YouTube tutorials, I was able to create a full beautiful set of nails on my first try! I do gel and acrylic extensions on myself regularly but am still quite novice at it, however the poly gel was such a dream to use that this is the best set I've ever done.
I also really love the variety of colors that came in this kit, and the brush/spatula included is very nice and held up much better than other DIY nail kit brushes I've used. Most of all, it was really fun to use!
I highly recommend this poly nail gel kit, it's perfect for beginners and DIY nail artists, the price is very decent, and the products are great.
The only thing left to test is how long it wears for; I work at a dog rescue and my nail art/extensions rarely last more than one to three days, so I will update next week with how well this holds up.

Update: This polygel held up for about a week on my nails, which is incredible for my job as I mentioned above! The polish I wore on it also stayed put very well, much less chipping than usual (I learned recently polish always stays longer on enhancements anyway but it's still a plus!), and there was minimal lifting. In fact, I think the only lifting I had was from hitting my nail at work, so this product really held up incredibly. I'm so happy with it! I did run out of the slip solution after only about 2 1/2-3 sets, but you can just use isopropyl alcohol instead and I actually found it worked even a little better than the solution.
This is such an excellent kit, I'm so glad I got it! I'm 100% self-taught through online tutorials, and this is by far the easiest product I've worked with. I definitely recommend other self-taught or newbie artists give this a try!

So I got this kit to try and was like eh it will be okay nothing major, well I had a nail I had over filed and was now crooked... So i just got this kit in the mail and was like I'll try it out.. I usually use acrylic to do my nails but I really didn't want to set everything up for one finger. OMG it was so fast and so easy and totally fixed my over filed nail in a matter of two minutes! I am so impressed and the quality of the product and ease of use! I am definitely a believer! I can't wait to try the other colors in the kit and possibly get more colors in the future! A definite must have for anyone who does nails!

I am a self-taught DIYer and just enjoy doing my nails. A couple months ago I decided to try polygel because I had a split in my nail that I'd been trying to grow out for several months. So, before trying this product I had built nails using reverse forms and using my dominant hand twice and done gel overlays with my left hand. I decided with this product I would try the dual forms.

Using the dual forms was definitely faster than building the nail. Since it was my first time, I struggled to figure out just how much product to use, which isn't a reflection of the product, just a part of the learning curve I think. These dual forms do not have markings for shape or length, which I have seen on other dual forms. I used one of my sculpted nails to determine how long I wanted to go and then drew the curve on the outside with a thin maker - in the end, I think I prefer this because it gives me more control. I had very little filing to do in terms of the length and shape by doing this. There were also sufficient sizes to fit all of my nails without problem.

The brush for applying the polygel to the forms was a perfect size, slightly smaller than the other two I have purchased and just the right firmness for patting it in place. Similar to the other two (more expensive brand) brushes I have bought like this, the handle covering the spatula end becomes loose quickly which is annoying then when holding the brush. This isn't specific to this brand, but seems to just be a flaw in the double-ended design. I will be interested to see how the brush holds up over time, but I am very happy with it out of the box.

Similarly, the effectiveness of the base and top coats will be more evident with time. They went on smoothly, but the real test will be with how long the nails stay attached. I do not wear the nails without painting over them, so I may not have a good test of how well the top coat holds up.

Finally, the polygel itself was very easy to use and I was able to pat and spread it in the forms really easily. I used the bright white and natural pink to try something of a baby boomer effect. Personally, the natural pink did not work well with my skin tone, but I think that is normal because there is such a range. I look forward to trying the other colors and perhaps doing some marbling, glitter, or other effects with them. The quality of the polygel seemed on par with the 2 more expensive brands that I have tried and in fact, I thought it handled significantly better than one of them.

As the other reviewer encountered, my box was also smashed in shipping and was only shipped in a padded envelope. Again, this seems to be an Amazon problem, not a manufacturer issue.

I can't speak as an expert, but as a beginner with some experience with other brands, I think this is a great product at a good price. There will be a learning curve using any product to build nails either with or without the dual forms so watch some videos and be prepared to practice!

Let me just say that I have never used polygel on myself before. I have been wanting to use this product for a while and finally took the plunge. This kit was great because it came with everything I needed to get started and complete from start to finish. Upon opening the package, it did come in a padded envelope it was a little damaged on the outside (smooshed maybe?) But I know it probably wasn't the fault of the sellers but Amazon's shipping. Made me a little nervous upon opening because I didn't know if anything was going to be broken on the inside, but luckily everything survived the shipment.

Amazon:: I think this kit should be in a box and not a padded envelope to prevent the possiblity of something getting broke.

Using this product I loved that it came with instructions, especially for a newbie such as myself. I'll confess that even after I read the directions, I watched a few YouTube videos to get more tips and tricks. Upon opening the top coat polish, I noticed it had a very faint smell of nail glue is what it reminded me of.

I posted some pictures of my right hand which is my dominate hand before and after pictures. My thumb I used a dual tip but couldn't go to the cuticle line with it because my thumb nail is so wide that the widest dual tip wouldn't reach from side to side wall. So I just used the dual form away from the cuticle wall and it worked fairly well. However my pointer finger got wonky because the dual form didn't want to stay in place, so I had to cure it then file it down and brush an overlay with the poly gel to fix it. Once I realized that was a little easier that's the way I did the rest of my nails. They're not perfect, but I'm sure practice over time it will be faster and easier on me.

I would definitely recommend this kit because it has everything you need and a variety of colors to choose from. The clear poly gel is actually pretty clear and didn't cloud up like I've seen some clear poly gel do in videos.

Overall, my first time using this was a long process for me. But I can definitely see me using this over using curing top coat gel polish with acrylic powder. :)
